Infective Endocarditis - Readouts & Application

Readouts:

Streptococcal infection units’ quantification
Valve regurgitation, ejection fraction, LV dimensions
LV hypertrophy and changes in pressure-volume relationship
Histopathological examination of valve calcification and damage

Application:

Acute bacterial endocarditis can lead to sepsis, congestive heart failure, and death within 6-8 weeks if untreated. The less aggressive subacute endocarditis creates LV hypertrophy, arrhythmias, and multiple hemodynamic dysfunctions.
