Hypertensive Heart Failure - Readouts & Application

Readouts:

Weekly cardiac echography: ejection fraction, ventricular dimensions
Pressure-volume loops of the left or right ventricles
Plasma biomarkers and histology at termination

Application:

More than 7.5 million deaths worldwide are attributed yearly to hypertension-induced heart failure. 30% of patients with blood pressure ≥ 130/85 mmHg developed heart failure in 2010, not including patients with co-morbidities such as diabetes, or coronary heart disease.
